House Select Committee on State Sovereignty Hears Healthcare Bills

The House Select Committee on State Sovereignty will meet today, March 17, to hear several healthcare bills that would weaken the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (the Healthcare Reform bill) that passed last March.  The following bills are being heard:

HB 297 (Berman, R-Tyler)-- would nullify PPACA; creates penalties to people who try to enforce it.
HB 124 (Legler, R-Pasadena)-- would nullify PPACA; prohibit fines for those who do not participate in PPACA
HJR 27 (Legler, R-Pasadena)-- constitutional amendment that would nullify PPACA; prohibit fines for those who do not participate in PPACA
HB 203 (Hughes, R-Marshall)-- prohibits required health insurance coverage
HB 32 (Creighton, R-Conroe)-- prohibits required health insurance coverage 
HB 97 (Paxton, R-McKinney)-- creates the "Health Freedom Act"
HJR 24 (Paxton, R-McKinney)-- creates a constitutional amendment that givings individuals the right to chose whether or not they purchase healthcare.
HB 5 (Kolkhorst, R-Brenham)-- relating to the Interstate Health Care Compact
HB 1008 (Lewis, R-Odessa)-- creates and enters Texas into the Interstate Medicaid Reform Compact.
HB 335 (Shelton, R-Fort Worth)
HCR 27 (Christian, R-Nacogdoches)-- Expresses opposition to PPACA
