Still A Lot of Work To Do On Health Care Reform

The fifth and final committee to produce its own version of health care reform completed their task on October 13th.  The bill from the Senate Finance Committee will now be merged with another Senate version before being voted on by the entire Senate.  Then, the differences between the resulting legislation and the final bill that comes out of the House would have to be ironed out.  In the meantime, there is still a lot of work to be done, as this article from The New Republic points out.  Advocates will have to continue calling their members in Congress if they want to see robust subsidies for people with low incomes, a public option that provides real choice and competition, and strong checks on the insurance industry.

President Obama is certainly not resting yet, saying "the bill is not perfect and we have a lot of difficult work ahead of us."  Find out who respresents you in Washington DC, and let them know what you want to see out of health care reform.
