Wanda is a retired missionary and currently serves as Peace with Justice Coordinator for the Southwest Texas Conference in a volunteer capacity. Wanda creates and facilitates training seminars on “Reconciliation & Healing Methods”, makes presentations on justice concerns as presented in the Social Principles, provides consultancy to Conference Boards and Agencies and maintains linkages between national and local boards. Wanda serves as a board member of Texas Impact, Texas Conference of Churches, and peaceCENTER of San Antonio.

Wanda was in Israel & Palestine twice in 2006, once for set up and then to lead an Interfaith Pilgrimage of Peace to the Holy Land for the General Board of Church and Society and looks forward to another Interfaith Pilgrimage of Peace to Istanbul in 2007.

Upon returning to the US in 1999, Wanda has led UMW Mission Studies in various Mission Schools and for UMW local units across Texas: Global Health, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos; Restorative Justice; Creating Interfaith Community; Public Education, Globalization: It’s Effects on Our Lives; and Shalom, Salaam, Peace.

Wanda currently assists her husband to promote nationwide the General Board of Global Ministries’ New Church Initiative “In Mission Together” for Cameroon, Africa. Wanda has Led VIM Teams to Cameroon, Africa for the past two years.

Wanda Holcombe began her missionary assignment with the General Board of Church and Society as Peace with Justice Educator in the Southwest Texas Conference 1999-2004. Prior to that, she was in missionary service in the Philippines with her husband, Rev. George Holcombe. Her major focus was on Village Development, an Evangelical and Church Development ministry which helps people help themselves. She has worked with her husband in village development throughout Asia, including Australia since 1970.

Since graduating from Louisiana State University in 1964 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Wanda has worked as an educator and business consultant in the United States, Latin America and Asia. Due to an interest developed in Architecture during her international work, Wanda pursued special studies and became a Certified Architectural Administrator and continues to serve on the Past President’s Advisory Board of the Society for Design Administration.

Wanda resides in Austin, Texas where her husband serves as retired pastor to Asbury UMC. Wanda and George Holcombe have two adult children and five grandchildren.
