Liz Yeats is an educator, organizer, editor and writer who has been working for peace and justice in a variety of ways since the 1960’s. She became a member of the Religious Society of Friends in 1970 and is now a member of Friends Meeting of Austin. She has served Quakers in a variety of paid and unpaid capacities, most recently as Religious Education and Publications Coordinator for Friends General Conference, a service group for Quakers in North America.

In the 1970’s while working for the American Friends Service Committee, Liz initiated a program for teaching nonviolent conflict resolution in several Vermont public and private schools. She has been doing nonviolence training in a variety of settings ever since and has helped develop curriculum for teaching conflict resolution for pre-school through high school youngsters.

Liz held the position of Associate for Church and Society/Communications and Web Services Coordinator for the Texas Conference of Churches from 2000 to 2003. She is a founding board member of the Austin Center for Peace and Justice (ACPJ) since 2001. She served as director of ACPJ in 2006-7.

Now self-employed as an editor, web developer and personal historian through Legacy Publications, Liz is working on several publishing projects. She continues to do nonviolence training through ACPJ, administrative work for Quakers Uniting In Publications (QUIP) and chairs and serves on several national Quaker boards and committees.
