Becoming a Justice Seeking Congregation
Reverend William K. McElvaney's new book, Becoming a Justice Seeking Congregation: Responding to God's Justice Initiative, offers sound biblical, theological and liturgical grounding from the Christian tradition for seeking and doing justice. In addition, its practical strategies offer a realistic, "rubber hits the road" approach to justice discernment and discovery at the local church level.
The book is designed as an ecumenical study guide for local congregations, clergy groups and seminarians. Questions at the end of each chapter facilitate inquiry, discussion and decision-making.
Bill McElvaney is a long time peace and justice advocate at both the local church and the academy level. He served fifteen years as pastor of United Methodist congregations; twelve years as president of Saint Paul School of Theology (United Methodist) in Kansas City, MO and eight years as LeVan Professor of Preaching and Worship, Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX.
